Javascript JQUERY Media Player Duration Issues - javascript

So, I've been working on an mp3 player that doesn't use Flash, just JS, HTML, and CSS. I took some open source code and have been playing with it, however I had to edit it when I started using JSONP to get the "link" of the MP3 file from another website. I had issues getting any of the JS function calls in the HTML to work, so I used JQUERY bind and that fixed everything but duration function and clientx issues. link = foo.mp3
function writePlayer(link){
$('<div id=\"main\"><h2>Episode</h2><div id=\"player\"><input id=\"playButton\" class=\'player_control\' type=\"button\" onClick=\"playClicked(this);\" value=\">\"><div id=\"duration\" class=\'player_control\' ><div id=\"duration_background\" onClick=\"durationClicked(event);\"><div id=\"duration_bar\" class=\'duration_bar\'></div></div></div><div id=\"volume_control\" class=\'player_control\' onClick=\"volumeChangeClicked(event);\"><div id=\"volume_background\"><div id=\"volume_bar\"></div></div></div><input type=\"button\" class=\'player_control\' id=\"volume_button\" onClick=\"volumeClicked();\" value=\"Vol\"></div><audio id=\"aplayer\" src='+ link +' type=\"audio/mp3\" onTimeUpdate=\"update();\" onEnded=\"trackEnded();\"><b>Your browser does not support the <code>audio</code> element. </b></audio><div id=\"msg\" class=\'output\'></div><div id=\"content\"><p></p></div></div></div>').appendTo('body');
$(document).ready(pageLoaded)
$("#playButton").bind('click',playClicked(this))
$("#duration_background").bind('click',durationClicked(event))
$("#volume_control").bind('click',volumeChangeClicked(event))

JavaScript mouseover/mousemove cusor postion without clicking in input text box

I'm attempting to combine a JavaScript mechanism for auto placing the users cursor inside of an input box through the mouseover and mousemove listeners.
I have an almost perfect working example here: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/doxNLm?editors=101
var current_element = document.getElementById("hover");
current_element.onmousemove = function showCoords(evt) {
var form = document.forms.form_coords;
var parent_id = this.id;
form.parentId.value = parent_id;
form.pageXCoords.value = evt.pageX;
form.pageYCoords.value = evt.pageY;
form.layerXCoords.value = evt.layerX;
form.layerYCoords.value = evt.layerY;
function getTextWidth(text, font) {
// re-use canvas object for better performance
var canvas = getTextWidth.canvas || (getTextWidth.canvas = document.createElement("canvas"));
var context = canvas.getContext("2d");
context.font = font;
var metrics = context.measureText(text);
return metrics.width;
};
var element_base_browser_styles = window.getDefaultComputedStyle(current_element);
var total_text_pixal_length = getTextWidth(current_element.value, element_base_browser_styles.fontFamily + " " + element_base_browser_styles.fontSize);
var add_char_pixal_lengths = 0;
var myStringArray = current_element.value.split('');
var arrayLength = myStringArray.length;
for (var i = 0; i <= arrayLength; i++) {
var get_char_value = getTextWidth(myStringArray[i], element_base_browser_styles.fontFamily + " " + element_base_browser_styles.fontSize);
add_char_pixal_lengths = add_char_pixal_lengths + (get_char_value) + 1.311111111111; //every char value is added together.
// console.log("Total: " + x);
if ((add_char_pixal_lengths)> (evt.layerX)) {
this.setSelectionRange(i, i);
add_char_pixal_lengths = 0;
break;
}
}
}
current_element.onmouseover = function() {
this.focus()
}
The problem I'm having is like Geosynchronous orbit; the cursor shifts out of place sometimes a few pixels (left or right). My calculation probably sucks, but I'm not sure canvas is really the best way to do the measurement? Is there a better way?
mousemove listener to receive element cursor coordinates from e.pageX
font style using window.getComputedStyles(input_element)
arr.split('') from input_element.text string: x = ['a','b','c']
'for loop' the array, generate a canvas and measure each characters width
add all char widths one by one until the value is greater than e.pageX
set the 'for loop' iterate as the setSelectionRange(i, i)
Any help or suggestions on making this better would be appreciated. Thanks!

Changes to Javascript created element doesn't reflect to DOM

I have a class, that is supposed to display grey overlay over page and display text and loading gif. Code looks like this:
function LoadingIcon(imgSrc) {
var elem_loader = document.createElement('div'),
elem_messageSpan = document.createElement('span'),
loaderVisible = false;
elem_loader.style.position = 'absolute';
elem_loader.style.left = '0';
elem_loader.style.top = '0';
elem_loader.style.width = '100%';
elem_loader.style.height = '100%';
elem_loader.style.backgroundColor = 'rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5)';
elem_loader.style.textAlign = 'center';
elem_loader.appendChild(elem_messageSpan);
elem_loader.innerHTML += '<br><img src="' + imgSrc + '">';
elem_messageSpan.style.backgroundColor = '#f00';
this.start = function () {
document.body.appendChild(elem_loader);
loaderVisible = true;
};
this.stop = function() {
if (loaderVisible) {
document.body.removeChild(elem_loader);
loaderVisible = false;
}
};
this.setText = function(text) {
elem_messageSpan.innerHTML = text;
};
this.getElems = function() {
return [elem_loader, elem_messageSpan];
};
}
Problem is, when I use setText method, it sets innerHTML of elem_messageSpan, but it doesn't reflect to the span, that was appended to elem_loader. You can use getElems method to find out what both elements contains.
Where is the problem? Because I don't see single reason why this shouldn't work.
EDIT:
I call it like this:
var xml = new CwgParser('cwg.geog.cz/cwg.xml'),
loader = new LoadingIcon('./ajax-loader.gif');
xml.ondataparse = function() {
loader.stop();
document.getElementById('cover').style.display = 'block';
};
loader.setText('Loading CWG list...');
loader.start();
xml.loadXML();
xml.loadXML() is function that usually takes 3 - 8 seconds to execute (based on download speed of client), thats why I'm displaying loading icon.

Need help in displaying selection handles on rectangle using javascript

I am trying to add something to my code so as to select the image after drawing ( the selection handler should appear in the corners and in the middle of edge) and then drag or increase/decrease the height and width?
My sample code is in the fiddle , in this I am drawing a rectangle using the mouse event handlers. I want to select the rectangle and modify/alter it using the selection handlers instead of drawing it again.
Click the button ROI, metrics and then you can draw it using the mouse events.
http://jsfiddle.net/AhdJr/53/
var oImageBuffer = document.createElement('img');
var oCanvas=document.getElementById("SetupImageCanvas");
var o2DContext=oCanvas.getContext("2d");
var oRect = {};
var oROI = {};
var oMetrics ={};
var oLayers = new Array();
var bDragging = false;
var bSetROI = false;
var bSetLayers = false;
InitMouseEvents();
var oSelect = document.getElementById("ImageList");
oSelect.onchange=function() {
changeCanvasImage(oSelect[oSelect.selectedIndex].value);
}
// Canvas event handlers (listeners).
function InitMouseEvents() {
oCanvas.addEventListener('mousedown', MouseDownEvent, false);
oCanvas.addEventListener('mouseup', MouseUpEvent, false);
oCanvas.addEventListener('mousemove', MouseMoveEvent, false);
oCanvas.addEventListener('mouseout', MouseOutEvent, false);
}
function MouseDownEvent(e) {
oRect.startX = e.pageX - this.offsetLeft;
oRect.startY = e.pageY - this.offsetTop;

Please guide me how to add the same in mine.
Really appreciate the help.
try the following link.
It is doing somewhat you want to achieve.

How to drag an image to move it smoothly on screen, using jquery in ie8

I am working on a project where we can move an image like in google map,, it works perfectly in crome,ff and above ie9, but when i checked in ie8 the image is not moving smoothly,it takes a 2 to 3 sec of time to move.
/* Map dragging */
var previousX;
var previousY;
var previousLeft;
var previousTop;
var cids = self.data.cuLocation;
var lumids = self.data.lumLocation;
$('#MapView img').css( 'cursor', 'pointer' );
$("#MapView img").mousedown(function(e) {
//console.log("mousedown");
e.preventDefault();
drag.state = true;
previousX = e.originalEvent.clientX;
previousY = e.originalEvent.clientY;
previousLeft = $("#MapView img").position().left;
previousTop = $("#MapView img").position().top;
});
$("#MapView img").mousemove(function(e) {
var old_pos = self.getPosition();
if (drag.state) {
e.preventDefault();
drag.x = e.originalEvent.clientX - previousX;
drag.y = e.originalEvent.clientY - previousY;
var cur_position = $("#MapView img").position();
var new_left = cur_position.left + drag.x;
var new_top = cur_position.top + drag.y;
previousX = e.originalEvent.clientX;
previousY = e.originalEvent.clientY;
}
});
$("#MapView img").mouseleave(function(e) {
//console.log("mouseleave");
drag.state = false;
});
$(document).mouseup(function(e) {
// alert("mouseup");
drag.state = false;
});
Use the following Link for your better understanding in Draggable event so than you can use it to Drag your Image wherever you want.

Javascript only works in IE Quirks, 7 and Chrome and Firefox. Doesn't work in IE 8 or 9 Standards

My code makes a number of divisions appear to orbit around an invisible horizontal axis on a plane. How it works: it fires a mouseevent listener onMouseDown, and captures the X of the user's cursor relative to the window. onMouseUp is simulated by a setTimeout function that is called 90 milliseconds later, it does the same and then subtracts the two values to determine the distance and direction to spin.
My question is: Why does it work correctly in FF, Chrome, and IE Quirks and IE 7 Standards, but not IE 8 Standards or IE 9 Standards?
IE8: the model breaks down and the divisons float away outside the containing boundary division. IE9: No response from the JS whatsoever.
The following contains the entire javascript on the page, which can be found # http://electrifiedpulse.com/360.html :

I don't know what may or may not be relevant to you, so I included the entire script. If you want you could ignore the longest function,
iScroll()
#RyanStortz. Try to register events in this maner:
var isMouseCaptured=false;
function i_boundary_mousedown(ev) {
isMouseCaptured=true;
iScrollListen("Down");
}
function doc_mousemove(ev) {
if(isMouseCaptured) {
ev=ev||event;
myX=ev.clientX;
myY=ev.clientY;
}
}
function doc_mouseup(ev) {
if(isMouseCaptured) {
isMouseCaptured=false;
ev=ev||event;
myX=ev.clientX;
myY=ev.clientY;
}
}
var i_boundaryObj=document.getElementById('I_BOUNDARY');
if(window.addEventListener) {
i_boundaryObj.addEventListener('mousedown',i_boundary_mousedown,false);
document.addEventListener('mousemove',doc_mousemove,false);
document.addEventListener('mouseup',doc_mouseup,false)
}
else if(window.attachEvent) {
i_boundaryObj.attachEvent('onmousedown',i_boundary_mousedown)
document.attachEvent('onmousemove',doc_mousemove);
document.attachEvent('onmouseup',doc_mouseup)
}
else ;//
Add for DIV with class "I_BOUNDARY" id attribute "I_BOUNDARY" and remove onmousedown attribute.
