Reduce size of sveltekit app deployed with node-adapter - javascript

I have written a sveltekit app that I would like to deploy for instance on AlwaysData.
On the AlwaysData servers I can use up to 100Mo. I thought this would be plenty for the very small app I have written. But it is not the case : my app is more than 400Mo.
I looked into it and noticed two things :
after building the app, there still remains a node_modules folder that is not bundled into the app.
this node_modules folder is more than 400Mo although I only use a few simple libraries.
Hence my question:
is there a way to bundle the node_module packages into my app? This would keep only the necessary stuff which is only a few kilobytes.
or is there a way to tell javascript to import the minified version of the package in the dist folder when in production.
Following are the libraries I use and the size they should be according to bundlephobia :

So how does an app that should take less than a 100kB end up taking 400MB ? Even from an environmental point of view, this looks a bit annoying...

You only need to deploy the build folder nothing more.

Building a Webpack 4 Config for SASS (Compilation, Minification in Prod), JS (Concat + Minification), and Multiple Vue Single Page Applications

Trying to setup a webpack setup for my entire resource generation workflow in our app. I don't need any hot reloading, browsersync, etc. Just needs to watch for changes, and rebuild depedent objects when changes are made. File structure looks like this:
(I apologize for the image I seriously looked up other methods to post structure, but nothing was working on the preview, I can post a fiddle-or-codepen with this output in a comment afterwards)
The only areas of note are:
1) Each folder underneath vue-spas each Single-Page Mini App (SPAs) generates it's own output file of the app.
2) All items in constructs underneath js are concat and minified into one output file (/dist/js/main.min.js) but every item underneath js/components/ just renders a minified and mangled version of that file
Lastly, I understand this is probably a difficult question to wrap around, but I have Gulp doing some of it now, and Webpack doing the Vue compilation, just trying to see if it's possible to consolidate into just webpack and let it do the work.

There are a few approaches. The simplest would be to add a key for each app in the entry point configuration in your webpack.config.js file.
That would look like this in your webpack.config.js file:

This will output individual directories in your dist for each with a nicely bundled app file.
By default, if you pass in a production variable to your webpack build command it'll apply all the optimizations you're looking for. If it's lacking out-of-the-box, there's likely a loader that can handle whatever optimization you need.
For Sass, you can add sass-loader to your webpack file:

Your devServer can just watch your vue-spa directory recursively for changes.
Another approach is to use lerna -- though that would require additional configuration, and is only necessary in your situation if you're in an enterprise environment where each individual app is being shipped out to a private NPM registry, and require individual semver.

Attempting to load a JavaScript sdk into an Angular2 application. Can't find all dependencies

I'm attempting to make use of this library: https://github.com/MagicTheGathering/mtg-sdk-javascript in an Angular2 application.
Unfortunately, I've been going in circles trying to load it into my application.
Firstly, on the TypeScript side if I import it using:
import { } from 'mtgsdk';
there are no types to load into the {}.
If I attempt to load it using something similar to:
import * as mtg from 'mtgsdk'
I'm unable to because it says that it's unable to find a module named mtgsdk.
I've installed the module using
npm install --save mtgsdk
Also, npm installs work fine for other modules.
The application compiles fine if I load it in using require via something similar to this:
var mtg = require('mtgsdk');
Taking that approach, I'm able to compile and launch but in the browser I get a number of errors about modules that it can't find. I figure they are prerequisites for the sdk that didn't get loaded so I start bringing them in via package.json.
For every one that I bring in, I then have to go to systemjs.config.js and add an entry pointing to the module's entry point and often have to specify a default extension using blocks like this:

I'm not sure if that's the right approach though because the more dependencies I add, the more that I end up requiring. At one point I had literally gotten up to 50 extra dependencies added because every time I launched, the browser console would find more that were needed.
Is there any easier way to load all of these in?
Also, some of them (such as tough-cookie and request-promise-core) were very problematic to load and I couldn't get the browser console to stop complaining about them. Finally, some of them seemed very basic such as url, http, https. Those seem like they should already be present.
Using systemjs was utilized in the previous versions of Angular 2, However Angular 2 has evolved to Angular 4, with super new features like Angular CLI.
I recommend your use Angular CLI, with #angular/cli.
Importing Node modules
Since mtgsdk is a node-module, you can easily import it using
import * as mtg from 'mtgsdk'
However for your program to compile, you must install a type definition for it. or declare one for it in /typings.json or your app might not build.
Importing Client Scripts
For client scripts like firebase.js you won't need to add client scripts as entries in systemjs.config.js again.
Using #angular/cli, you would easily add them in the scripts[] array in your angular-cli.json for automatic compilation.
Then access them like this
declare const firebase: any;

Why can't my Titanium build app find a module even though it's clearly there?

I'm trying to use the sculejs module that I downloaded with GitHub. It seems like the com.scule.js-file should be placed in the same folder as app.js, according to the provided example. But the most recent versions of Titanium (I think) don't use that structure.
Here is what I add to the index.js-file located under app/controllers:
var scule = require('com.scule.min');
This results in the emulator giving me "Application Error Couldn't find module: com.scule.min."

Anyone know what's wrong? Or maybe can push me in the right direction to get it to work?

There should only be controllers in the controllers directory. So you should remove all but index.js.
Next, create a lib directory and put your commonjs libraries there. Also, remove com.scule.min.js from the app directory.
It's important to use the correct directory structure in Alloy. Otherwise, your files will be ignored.
Use This:
var scule = require('/controllers/com.scule.min');
This may be a little late for your needs - but I thought I'll just put an answer here anyway for others to see.
It seems you are using "Alloy" with Titanium - that is good! I am relatively new to Titanium but I am quite sure Alloy is the way to build apps in Titanium.
Within Alloy you need to put all your CommonJS libraries in a "lib" folder which is at the same level as controllers, views and styles. Create the folder if it does not already exist.
Once you have put your com.scule.js (which I use) - or com.scule.min.js in the "lib" folder then you can easily include it in the other modules (e.g. your controller or another of your own libraries in the lib folder). Just write:
var scule = require('com.scule') // Basically, the file name without the last ".js"
I don't know if your problem could be related to 'com.scule.min.js'? I haven't tried that - but I use 'com.scule.js' in my current app ;-)

How do I connect bower components with sails.js?

I'd like to be able to install Javascript dependencies through bower and use them in a sails.js app, but I can't figure out a way to do this with out just copying an pasting files from the bower_components folder to the Sails assets folder.
Ideally I think I'd like to use requirejs and point to the bower components in the main.js file. I may be trying to pound a square peg in a round hole, please let me know if so. Any thoughts on managing components/libraries with Sails are welcome.
In Sails 0.10 the 'assets/linker' directory no longer exists, however I found a lead on simple solution that gives some automation to the bower -> asset linker workflow while also allowing some granular control over what exactly ends up getting linked.
The solution is adding grunt-bower to your Sails.js compileAssets task

Then configure your grunt-bower task like so (as tasks/config/bower.js):

This will automatically copy your bower js and css files to the proper place for Sail's asset linker to find and automatically add to your project's layout template. Any other js or css files will still automatically be added after your bower files.
However this is still no silver bullet as this setup has 2 big caveats to it:
1 - The files that are added through bower-grunt have to be listed in bower.json's main array. If you see a file isn't being loaded you would expect to be, you must either edit that packages bower.json file OR add the dependency manually through grunt-bower's packageSpecific options.
2 - The order of bower files in the asset linker is currently alphabetical. My only recourse to adjust this order so far is tinkering around with an additional grunt task to manually re-order files prior to the rest of Sail's compileAssets task. However this one I'm confident there is something grunt-bower could do by supporting package copy ordering.
Note: the following answer is no longer completely relevant to the current version of SailsJS because there is no support for the linker folder as of SailsJS 0.10.

I was able to figure out a solution for this, which is actually pretty simple. I had not realized you could configure where bower places it's files.
Create a .bowerrc file and change the directory where bower components are installed, in the case of Sailjs they should be put into the assets folder.

Sails will then use grunt to copy them to the .tmp/public/assets folder whenever a file is change. If you don't wish to have sails continually deleting and then recopying those files you can exclude them in the grunt file.

One tip on using requirejs with sails. By default you will get an error from the socket.io file since sails will load it without using requirejs. This will throw an error since socket.io supports amd style loading, more details here http://requirejs.org/docs/errors.html#mismatch.
The simplest way to fix this is to just comment out the lines near the end of the socket.io.js.

The other way would be to recode the sails files in assets/js named "socket.io.js", "sails.io.js" and app.js to be amd modules.
The simplest way I've found of achieving this is simply to add the individual Bower components to your tasks/pipeline.js file. For example, here's how you might add Modernizr:

A link to bower_components/modernizr/modernizr.js then gets inserted in the <!--SCRIPTS--> placeholder in your layout template, and it also gets minified, etc, when you run sails lift --prod.

I think include bower_components in linker it's a bad idea, because when you will lift sails, everything in it will be copied in .tmp and include in tags.
For example, if you have include Angular with bower, you will have two inclusions in your script: one for angular.js and one for angular.min.js. And having both is a mistake.
Here is my solution on my projects :
I have created a folder bower_component in my root directory.
I have added this line in my Gruntfile.js in the array files in copy:dev
{ '.tmp/public/linker/js/angular.js': './bower_components/angular/angular.js' }
And for each files I want to include, I need to manually add a new line in this array. I haven't find an another automatic solution. If someone finds a better solution... ;)
There is more than one approach to hooking up SailsJS and Bower.

Use Node.js as standalone LESS-compiler in project?

I've been trying to incorporate the lessc compiler in a large project that has the basic setup from Bootstrap and it only results in various compileerrors (for which there are tickets for everyone with different solutions).
Not one solution give me what I want, which is a way to compile the less-pile through the command line.
I compile various other assets through node.js and hoped to do the same thing with the less, but every googlepage I find on the subject is Node.js+Express which is not what I want. I want a standalone compiler. (Idea: require.js r.js-file)
I found Node-less but it hasnt seen a update in 2 years and as such isnt ideal.
So. Question: Is there a commandline way to compile less-files with node.js? Ideal impl:
node compiler.js build.js
where build.js is a file with path to bootstrap.less and everything else needed.
Example of a r.js config file:

Here is how to use node and less to output to a file:

-x : compress
-O2 : optimization mode
which creates output.css from main.less. Might be simple but I havn't found this ANYWHERE on the net. That line can be incorporated in a deployment-script.
