Can anyone please help me to understand, why I'm not able to load my jQuery functions(stored in script.js) using HTML(index.htm)
Following are the codes of:
script.js
$.get("./Components/head.htm", function(data) {
$("head").append(data);
});
$("#logo").on("error", function() {
$(this).hide();
$("#name").show();
});
$("#search").keyup(function() {
alert($(this).val());
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<title>SAM</title>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.5.1.min.js"></script>
<script src="./script.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="header">
<div id="brand">
<img src="./Static/Logo.png" id="logo">
<h1 hidden id="name">SAM Store</h1>
</div>
<div>
<input type="search" id="search" list="suggest">
<datalist id="suggest">
<option value="Laptop"></option>
<option value="Mouse"></option>
<option value="Keyboard"></option>
<option value="Speaker"></option>
<option value="Earphone"></option>
</datalist>
</div>
<script>
</script>
</div>
</body>
</html>
[N.B.: Functions are working if I'm adding $.get function in index.htm and importing script.js using it, but they are not working if I'm referencing script.js on index.htm & importing $.get function. Also, the browser is successfully able to load the script.js in both of these cases]
When ever you use jquery always load the code inside an on ready statement, otherwise they will not always load on time.
$( document ).ready(function() {
$.get("Components/head.htm", function(data) {
$("head").append(data);
});
$("#logo").on("error", function() {
$(this).hide();
$("#name").show();
});
$("#search").keyup(function() {
alert($(this).val());
});
});

I have a Javascript file named loader.js which contains a function called initialize(). I want to call this function via jQuery. This is my HTML file:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="loader.js" ></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery(document).on("click", ".link", function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var a= $(this).text();
window.initialize= function{
};
initialize(a);
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body >
<h1>welcome to my website </h1>
link1
link2
<div id="main">
</div>
</body>
</html>
This is loader.js:
function initialize(a) {
$('#main').html= a;
}
I do not know what is wrong with this script, I have debug it jquery is working fine but funtion is not working correctly.
also I want that whenever the function is clicked again the div should be refreshed for example first it contain link1 but when link2 is clicked link1 should be removed inside the div how can i accomplish this task????
thanks in advance
You're not including the loader script. Add <script src='loader.js'></script> before the jQuery code.
The code in loader.js should be inside a jQuery(document).ready callback since it's now using jquery (the html method).
Also as #jiihoo pointed out you should use $('#main').html(a); instead of $('#main').html = a;.
You should change to code of loader.js to this.
function initialize(a) {
$('#main').html(a);
}
Heres the whole thing you could do.
Html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.1.1/jquery.min.js"> </script>
<script src="loader.js"></script>
</head>
<body >
<h1>welcome to my website </h1>
link1
link2
<div id="main"></div>
</body>
</html>
Loader.js
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery(document).on("click", ".link", function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var a = $(this).text();
initialize(a);
});
});
function initialize(a) {
$('#main').html(a);
}
I'm having trouble getting the following to work:
$('#elem').trigger('click');
When I run it, it doesn't trigger a click but it doesn't show any error logs in the console either.
I've also tried the following with no luck:
$('#elem')[0].click();
Any ideas as to what could be going wrong or a solution for this?
Update: Jquery is working and when I inspect the element, #elem does appear (it's an id for a button)
HTML:
<a:button id="elem">My Button</Button>
JQuery:
P.when('A', 'jQuery').execute(function (A, $) {
//when this function is called, it should trigger a button click
triggerButtonClick = function() {
$('#elem').trigger('click');
};
});
Try it in document.ready function, then all dom loads when the document is ready.You can do something like this based on your requirement.
$( document ).ready(function() {
$('#radio').click(function(){
$('#elem')[0].click();
})
});
i have tried this code and it works
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/css/bootstrap.min.css">
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="http://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/js/bootstrap.min.js"> </script>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("chk1").click(function(){
$('#usr').trigger('click');
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<form action="sample.php">
<button id="chk1">click</button>
<input class="form-control" type="submit" id="usr">
</form>
</body>
</html>
this code works for me:
$(window).load(function() {
$('#menu_toggle').trigger('click');
});
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#elem').click(function () {
alert('clicked');
$(this).css('color', 'red');
});
$('#elem').trigger('click');
});
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<body>
<div id="elem" >test</div>
</body>
</html>
I'm playing around with jQuery, and am having some trouble alerting a message on change of my select drop down element:
html:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="script.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<select id="fruits">
<option selected>Choose a fruit</option>
<option name="orange">Orange</option>
<option name="mango">Mango</option>
</select>
</div>
</body>
</html>
my js:
$('#fruits').on('change', function() {
alert('Hello!');
});
When I run this in Chrome, I don't get any warnings in my console, and changing the select option does nothing. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Put your code in document ready:
$(function () {
$('#fruits').on('change', function() {
alert('Hello!');
});
});
jsFiddle Demo.
try below code:
1.you must call js function or you can write code in ready function
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="script.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#fruits').on('change', function() {
alert('Hello!');
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<select id="fruits">
<option selected>Choose a fruit</option>
<option name="orange">Orange</option>
<option name="mango">Mango</option>
</select>
</div>
</body>
</html>
you can try this too:
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="script.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<select id="fruits">
<option selected>Choose a fruit</option>
<option name="orange">Orange</option>
<option name="mango">Mango</option>
</select>
</div>
<script>
$('#fruits').on('change', function() {
alert('Hello!');
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
Sample code:
<html>
<head>
.....
</head>
<body>
<div id="content">
<form>
....
<input type="submit" onclick="loadAnotherPage()"/>
</form>
</div>
</body>
</html>
I want to load another page say edit_profile.php in the content div. How can it be achieved without refreshing the page?
I tried to use jQuery load() method. But looks like I missed something. Any help would be highly appreciated.
When you click submit button it's submit form and page refresh that's why its not working.
Instead of type submit set button and then set function onclick.
function loadAnotherPage(){
$("#content").load('edit_profile.php');
}
$(document).ready(
function() {
$('#load_file').click(
$.post('edit_profile.php',
{},
function(data){
$("#content").html(data);
},''
)
);
}
);
Try this
<html>
<head>
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="content"></div>
<button id="loadpage">load new page</button>
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#loadpage").click(function() {
$.get("edit_profile.php", function(response){
$("#content").html(response);
});
})
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
I am using the following code to make a custom checkbox with my own images.
First I included JQuery and added the JQuery code for the required functionality:
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#moreinfo").change(function() {
if(this.checked) {
$(this).prev().attr("src", "checkbox_unchecked.gif");
} else {
$(this).prev().attr("src", "checkbox_checked.gif");
}
});
});
</script>
Next...here's the HTML:
<label for="moreinfo">
<img src="checkbox_unchecked.gif"/>
<input name="moreinfo" type="checkbox" id="moreinfo" style="display:none">
</label>
The unchecked image is there but when I click on it, it doesn't change/toggle.
I'm I missing something?
UPDATE:
Testing this full code locally and it's not working...
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#moreinfo").change(function() {
if(this.checked) {
$(this).prev().attr("src", "http://icdn.pro/images/en/v/e/verify-correct-icone-9268-48.png");
} else {
$(this).prev().attr("src", "http://www.theology.edu/Remata/Android/Help/wrongx_icon.png");
}
});
});
</script>
</title>
</head>
<body>
<label for="moreinfo">
<img src="http://www.theology.edu/Remata/Android/Help/wrongx_icon.png"/>
<input name="moreinfo" type="checkbox" id="moreinfo" style="display:none">
</label>
</body>
</html>
It's working, you can check it here.
$("#moreinfo").click(function() {
var $img = $(this).prev();
$img.attr("src", ($(this).checked)?"checkbox_checked.gif":"checkbox_unchecked.gif");
});
