Rotate and save image for JavaScript - javascript

I am writing a webapp which loads the image and display on canvas (more exact, I am writing a Tizen app which uses HTML5/JavaScript).
I can load the image properly:
function loadImage(file) {
var img = new Image();
img.src = file;
return img;
}
Everything works fine until I started to get images which display in wrong orientation. I figure out how to get the EXIF and orientation, and I was wondering how do I change the above function to return a proper image?
function loadImage(file) {
var img = new Image();
img.src = file;
// Retrieve EXIF orientation (works fine)
...
// What should I do here to rotate the img?
return img;
}
I have been looking around and others are suggesting drawing the image rotated in canvas, but that causes a lot of problems in my calculation (where the x, y are not in 0, 0, width and height are not the same size as the canvas).

Try this
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<button id="button" value="click here!">Click Here!</button>
<div id="parentdiv">
<img id="image"
src="https://d13yacurqjgara.cloudfront.net/users/71134/screenshots/1020838/save-icon.png" />
</div>
<style>
#parentdiv {width:820px;height:100px;}
#parentdiv.rotate90,#container.rotate270 {width:100px;height:820px}
#image {
transform-origin: top left; /* IE 10+, Firefox, etc. */
-webkit-transform-origin: top left; /* Chrome */
-ms-transform-origin: top left; /* IE 9 */
}
#parentdiv.rotate90 #image {
transform: rotate(90deg) translateY(-100%);
-webkit-transform: rotate(90deg) translateY(-100%);
-ms-transform: rotate(90deg) translateY(-100%);
}
#parentdiv.rotate180 #image {
transform: rotate(180deg) translate(-100%,-100%);
-webkit-transform: rotate(180deg) translate(-100%,-100%);
-ms-transform: rotate(180deg) translateX(-100%,-100%);
}
#parentdiv.rotate270 #image {
transform: rotate(270deg) translateX(-100%);
-webkit-transform: rotate(270deg) translateX(-100%);
-ms-transform: rotate(270deg) translateX(-100%);
}
</style>
<script>
var angle = 0, img = document.getElementById('parentdiv');
document.getElementById('button').onclick = function() {
angle = (angle+90)%360;
img.className = "rotate"+angle;
}
</script>
</body>
</html>

Try:
img.style.transform = 'rotate(30deg)';

Getting exif orientation of img element and assigning class accordingly

I have an image element and I need to change the rotation of the image based on the exif orientation. I need to do so using javascript only.
The following are the css classes:
.image_up {
-webkit-transform: rotate(270deg);
-moz-transform: rotate(270deg);
-ms-transform: rotate(270deg);
-o-transform: rotate(270deg);
transform: rotate(270deg);
}
.image_down {
-webkit-transform: rotate(90deg);
-moz-transform: rotate(90deg);
-ms-transform: rotate(90deg);
-o-transform: rotate(90deg);
transform: rotate(90deg);
}
.image_left {
-webkit-transform: rotate(180deg);
-moz-transform: rotate(180deg);
-ms-transform: rotate(180deg);
-o-transform: rotate(180deg);
transform: rotate(180deg);
}
And this is the logic of assigning the css to the image file:
{
case 3: // 180 rotate left
document.getElementById("user-avatar").className = "image_up";
break;
case 6: // 90 rotate right
document.getElementById("user-avatar").className = "image_down";
break;
case 8: // 90 rotate left
document.getElementById("user-avatar").className = "image_left";
break;
}
My issue is in obtaining the exif data of the image file and selecting the proper class before showing the image
If you are using vue.js
you can simply use this vue-img-orientation-changer to fix the incorrect img orientation.
vue-img-orientation-changer is a vue directive plugin.

Facing issue while applying css transform properties to DOM object using multiple css classes

Following is the code

<title>Facing issue while applying css tranform properties to DOM object using multiple css classes</title>
<!-- PUT A PATH OF JQUERY LIBRARY -->
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
window.onload = function () {
var flag = true;
setInterval(function () {
if (flag) {
flag = false;
$("#spelling_game_score_box_score").addClass("active_score");
}
else {
flag = true;
$("#spelling_game_score_box_score").removeClass("active_score");
}
},2000);
}
</script>
<style>
#spelling_game_score_box_score {
position:absolute;
top:200px;
left:200px;
height: 100px;
width: 100px;
transform: rotate(-30deg);
-webkit-transform: rotate(-30deg);
-moz-transform: rotate(-30deg);
-ms-transform: rotate(-30deg);
font-size: 36px;
background-color: orange;
}
.active_score {
transform: scale(2);
-webkit-transform: scale(2);
-moz-transform: scale(2);
-ms-transform: scale(2);
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="spelling_game_score_box_score">100</div>
</body>
</html>
Now, I run the code I can not find scale() effect after interval of 2000 ms. But when I comment following css under #spelling_game_score_box_score selector
/*transform: rotate(-30deg);
-webkit-transform: rotate(-30deg);
-moz-transform: rotate(-30deg);
-ms-transform: rotate(-30deg);*/
I can have scale effect but can not find rotate effect.
I want to know that is there some sub properties for css tranform like border has border-color, border-style etc. so I can have some solution regarding the problem.
Please help me if you have some idea about it.
Thank you.
There are two problems here:
CSS Specificity
transform css code
First, you use id to specify the transform functions:
#spelling_game_score_box_score {
...
transform: rotate(-30deg);
...
}
Then, you try to override it by specifying a class:
.active_score {
transform: scale(2);
}
which wouldn't work because of the CSS specificity problem.
You can solve this by making it more specific:
#spelling_game_score_box_score.active_score {
transform: scale(2);
}
But then we come to the second problem where transform: scale(2); overrides the original transformation.
To solve this you can use both rotate and scale in the same transformation.
#spelling_game_score_box_score.active_score {
transform: rotate(-30deg) scale(2);
}

Can't get slider to use 4 items?

I have a slider that I've been trying to get working. It's demo was 3 slides, but I am trying to add 4. When I add it in, the 4 item is either
In the back permanently
Under the right-sides image
I'm not quite sure how I can fix this, if there is a way.
To help describe what I'm looking for, imagine the below is my diagram:
[back img]
[left img] [right img]
[front img]
I am trying to make it so it revolves. Currently, you can see the front/left/right images, which is what I need, but you can also see the back image.
I essentially need the back image to be hidden, so whichever image is in that spot, hide it.
Here is the set up in HTML
<div class='p_slider'>
<div class='p_slider__item'>
<img src='https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/s.cdpn.io/217233/iwatch1.png'>
</div>
<div class='p_slider__item'>
<img src='https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/s.cdpn.io/217233/iwatch2.png'>
</div>
<div class='p_slider__item'>
<img src='https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/s.cdpn.io/217233/iwatch3.png'>
</div>
<div class='p_slider__item'>
<img src='https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/s.cdpn.io/217233/iwatch3.png'>
</div>
</div>
The positioning in CSS
.p_slider__item:nth-of-type(1) {
-webkit-transform: scale(0.6);
-ms-transform: scale(0.6);
transform: scale(0.6);
left: -200px;
-webkit-filter: blur(2px);
opacity: 0.8;
z-index: 1;
}
.p_slider__item:nth-of-type(2) {
-webkit-transform: scale(1);
-ms-transform: scale(1);
transform: scale(1);
left: 0px;
z-index: 2;
}
.p_slider__item:nth-of-type(3) {
-webkit-transform: scale(0.6);
-ms-transform: scale(0.6);
transform: scale(0.6);
left: 200px;
z-index: 1;
-webkit-filter: blur(2px);
opacity: 0.8;
}
.p_slider__item:nth-of-type(4) {
-webkit-transform: scale(1);
-ms-transform: scale(1);
transform: scale(1);
left: 0px;
z-index: 2;
}
I have quite a bit more code invested in this, but to keep it short, I also have this JS Fiddle Link. I know this is pretty custom work so I appreciate all the help I get! Thanks!
What I've Tried
updated fiddle with 4 items all moving here: DEMO
So I now have 4 items in rotation, but the slider wants to do this.
Slide front image to right
Slide left image to center
Slide (new center) img to Left and swap with that left
Slide (new center) to right, Slide Left to center
You can simplify the code for rotating by defining classes like left,right,front and back for the positions respectively and add and remove them to elements based on rotateLeft() or rotateRight() functions.
CSS:
.back
{
-webkit-transform: scale(0.4);
-ms-transform: scale(0.4);
transform: scale(0.4);
left:0px;
z-index: 1;
-webkit-filter: blur(2px);
}
.front
{
-webkit-transform: scale(1);
-ms-transform: scale(1);
transform: scale(1);
left: 0px;
z-index: 3;
}
.left
{
-webkit-transform: scale(0.6);
-ms-transform: scale(0.6);
transform: scale(0.6);
left: -200px;
opacity: 0.8;
z-index: 2;
-webkit-filter: blur(2px);
}
.right
{
-webkit-transform: scale(0.6);
-ms-transform: scale(0.6);
transform: scale(0.6);
left: 200px;
z-index: 2;
-webkit-filter: blur(2px);
opacity: 0.8;
}
JS:
// 3D Slider for Reece
on = 0; // Init
time = 500; // Set the delay before the next click is accepted to 1 second
// Right
$('.right').click(function () {
rotateRight(); // Call
on = 1; // Set delay on
});
// Left
$('.left').click(function () {
rotateLeft(); // Call
on = 1; // Set delay on
});
play = setInterval(function () {
rotateLeft()
}, 3000)
// Rotate left
function rotateLeft() {
if (on == 0) {
var frontElem = $('.p_slider__item.front');
var leftElem = $('.p_slider__item.left');
var backElem = $('.p_slider__item.back');
var rightElem = $('.p_slider__item.right');
frontElem.removeClass('front').addClass('left');
leftElem.removeClass('left').addClass('back');
backElem.removeClass('back').addClass('right');
rightElem.removeClass('right').addClass('front');
setTimeout(function () {
on = 0; // Accept clicks again
}, time)
}
}
// Rotate right
function rotateRight() {
if (on == 0) {
var frontElem = $('.p_slider__item.front');
var leftElem = $('.p_slider__item.left');
var backElem = $('.p_slider__item.back');
var rightElem = $('.p_slider__item.right');
frontElem.removeClass('front').addClass('right');
leftElem.removeClass('left').addClass('front');
backElem.removeClass('back').addClass('left');
rightElem.removeClass('right').addClass('back');
setTimeout(function () {
on = 0; // Accept clicks again
}, time)
}
}
$('.p_slider__item img').hover(function () {
clearInterval(play)
})
$('.p_slider__item img').mouseenter(function () {
$(this).animate({ 'top': '-14px' }, 300);
})
$('.p_slider__item img').mouseout(function () {
$(this).stop(true, false).animate({ 'top': '0px' }, 300)
play = setInterval(function () {
rotateLeft()
}, 3000)
})

How to scroll/rotate clockwise and anticlockwise image in jQuery?

Is there any way to rotate or spin below image in jQuery. If user swipe up or touch up it rotate clockwise .Or if user swipe down it rotate anticlockwise. In other word is there any way to spin the tyre image clockwise or anticlockwise using mouse over up and mouse down event .so that it look we type is scrolling ? Can I use animation function?
thanks
here is my fiddle
http://jsfiddle.net/wemsbtwj/
function scrolling() {
$("img").css({
'transform': 'rotate(' + ($("main").scrollTop() / mainHeight * 360) + 'deg)'
});
}
var mainHeight = $("main").height();
window.addEventListener("scroll", scrolling, false);
You can use reel or threesixty jQuery plugin for 360 Degrees Image Display.
Here is a list of 360-degrees-image-display-plugins.
If you are thinking of using this as a product image. usually it is done using multiple images of the product taken from different angles slightly different from each other, and then they are changed based on the mouse movement.
If you just want to rotate this image there are many ways, you can take advantage of CSS3 animate and change the image animation property. A good library to look at is
Animate.css http://daneden.github.io/animate.css/
and you can use the Flipper classes, but change the speed so it rotate slower. you can change this using JQuery .CSS function.

Rotate image with javascript

I need to rotate an image with javascript in 90-degree intervals. I have tried a few libraries like jQuery rotate and Raphaƫl, but they have the same problem - The image is rotated around its center. I have a bunch of content on all sides of the image, and if the image isn't perfectly square, parts of it will end up on top of that content. I want the image to stay inside its parent div, which has max-with and max-height set.
Using jQuery rotate like this (http://jsfiddle.net/s6zSn/1073/):
var angle = 0;
$('#button').on('click', function() {
angle += 90;
$("#image").rotate(angle);
});
Results in this:
And this is the result i would like instead:
Anyone have an idea on how to accomplish this?
You use a combination of CSS's transform (with vendor prefixes as necessary) and transform-origin, like this: (also on jsFiddle)
var angle = 0,
img = document.getElementById('container');
document.getElementById('button').onclick = function() {
angle = (angle + 90) % 360;
img.className = "rotate" + angle;
}
#container {
width: 820px;
height: 100px;
overflow: hidden;
}
#container.rotate90,
#container.rotate270 {
width: 100px;
height: 820px
}
#image {
transform-origin: top left;
/* IE 10+, Firefox, etc. */
-webkit-transform-origin: top left;
/* Chrome */
-ms-transform-origin: top left;
/* IE 9 */
}
#container.rotate90 #image {
transform: rotate(90deg) translateY(-100%);
-webkit-transform: rotate(90deg) translateY(-100%);
-ms-transform: rotate(90deg) translateY(-100%);
}
#container.rotate180 #image {
transform: rotate(180deg) translate(-100%, -100%);
-webkit-transform: rotate(180deg) translate(-100%, -100%);
-ms-transform: rotate(180deg) translateX(-100%, -100%);
}
#container.rotate270 #image {
transform: rotate(270deg) translateX(-100%);
-webkit-transform: rotate(270deg) translateX(-100%);
-ms-transform: rotate(270deg) translateX(-100%);
}
<button id="button">Click me!</button>
<div id="container">
<img src="http://i.stack.imgur.com/zbLrE.png" id="image" />
</div>
var angle = 0;
$('#button').on('click', function() {
angle += 90;
$('#image').css('transform','rotate(' + angle + 'deg)');
});
Try this code.
No need for jQuery and lot's of CSS anymore (Note that some browsers need extra CSS)
Kind of what #Abinthaha posted, but pure JS, without the need of jQuery.
let rotateAngle = 90;
function rotate(image) {
image.setAttribute("style", "transform: rotate(" + rotateAngle + "deg)");
rotateAngle = rotateAngle + 90;
}
#rotater {
transition: all 0.3s ease;
border: 0.0625em solid black;
border-radius: 3.75em;
}
<img id="rotater" onclick="rotate(this)" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Iron_Man_bleeding_edge.jpg"/>
CSS can be applied and you will have to set transform-origin correctly to get the applied transformation in the way you want
See the fiddle:
http://jsfiddle.net/OMS_/gkrsz/
Main code:
/* assuming that the image's height is 70px */
img.rotated {
transform: rotate(90deg);
-webkit-transform: rotate(90deg);
-moz-transform: rotate(90deg);
-ms-transform: rotate(90deg);
transform-origin: 35px 35px;
-webkit-transform-origin: 35px 35px;
-moz-transform-origin: 35px 35px;
-ms-transform-origin: 35px 35px;
}
jQuery and JS:
$(img)
.css('transform-origin-x', imgWidth / 2)
.css('transform-origin-y', imgHeight / 2);
// By calculating the height and width of the image in the load function
// $(img).css('transform-origin', (imgWidth / 2) + ' ' + (imgHeight / 2) );
Logic:
Divide the image's height by 2. The transform-x and transform-y values should be this value

Hope this can help you!
<input type="button" id="left" value="left" />
<input type="button" id="right" value="right" />
<img src="https://www.google.com/images/srpr/logo3w.png" id="image">
<script>
var angle = 0;
$('#left').on('click', function () {
angle -= 90;
$("#image").rotate(angle);
});
$('#right').on('click', function () {
angle += 90;
$("#image").rotate(angle);
});
</script>
Try it
i have seen your running code .There is one line correction in your code.
Write:
$("#wrapper").rotate(angle);
instead of:
$("#image").rotate(angle);
and you will get your desired output,hope this is what you want.
I think this will work.
document.getElementById('#image').style.transform = "rotate(90deg)";
Hope this helps. It's work with me.
You can always apply CCS class with rotate property - http://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/text-rotation/
To keep rotated image within your div dimensions you need to adjust CSS as well, there is no needs to use JavaScript except of adding class.
Based on Anuga answer I have extended it to multiple images.
Keep track of the rotation angle of the image as an attribute of the image.
function rotate(image) {
let rotateAngle = Number(image.getAttribute("rotangle")) + 90;
image.setAttribute("style", "transform: rotate(" + rotateAngle + "deg)");
image.setAttribute("rotangle", "" + rotateAngle);
}
.rotater {
transition: all 0.3s ease;
border: 0.0625em solid black;
border-radius: 3.75em;
}
<img class="rotater" onclick="rotate(this)" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Iron_Man_bleeding_edge.jpg"/>
<img class="rotater" onclick="rotate(this)" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Iron_Man_bleeding_edge.jpg"/>
<img class="rotater" onclick="rotate(this)" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Iron_Man_bleeding_edge.jpg"/>
Edit
Removed the modulo, looks strange.
