I have function CarFactory, which produce cars and should change color of these cars.
const warehouse = require("./warehouse");
function CarFactory(power = 10) {
this.warehouse = warehouse;
this.produceCar = (color = "red", wheels = 4, engine = false) => {
if (power < 2) {
return null
} else {
let car = { "id": warehouse.nextIdentifier, "color": color, "wheels": wheels, "engine": engine }
warehouse.createdCars.push(car);
warehouse.nextIdentifier++;
}
}
this.addEnergyPower = (value = 0) => {
power += value;
}
this.changeCarColor = (num) => {
if (power < 1) {
return null
} else {
warehouse.createdCars[num].color = 'blue'
}
}
}
module.exports = CarFactory;
But Im getting error Cannot set properties of undefined(setting 'color').
If I hardcode 0 like this to: createdCars[0] it actually works for car indexed 0.
this is warehouse file
let warehouse = {
createdCars: [],
nextIdentifier: 0
};
module.exports = warehouse;
this is where jest tries to change color
for (let i = 0; i < myFactory.warehouse.createdCars.length; i += 2) {
let car = myFactory.warehouse.createdCars[i];
if (myFactory.changeCarColor(car) !== null) {} else {
if (energyBoosts.length > 0) {
myFactory.addEnergyPower(energyBoosts.shift());
i -= 2;
} else {
break
}
}
}
From what I can tell in the line if (myFactory.changeCarColor(car) !== null) {} else{ car would be { "id": warehouse.nextIdentifier, "color": color, "wheels": wheels, "engine": engine } but what it seems like you would want is the id. So change if (myFactory.changeCarColor(car) !== null) {} else{ to if (myFactory.changeCarColor(car.id) !== null) {} else{ and see if that works.
You have this.changeCarColor = (num) but appears you want to pass a car to that and then get the id? I have no idea what this is so I then fails here:
console.log(typeof energyBoosts); with "undefined" for energyBoosts
But that is the NEXT question not the one at hand.
let warehouse = {
createdCars: [],
nextIdentifier: 0
};
function CarFactory(power = 10) {
this.warehouse = warehouse;
this.produceCar = (color = "red", wheels = 4, engine = false) => {
// console.log("here");
if (power < 2) {
return null;
} else {
let car = {
"id": warehouse.nextIdentifier,
"color": color,
"wheels": wheels,
"engine": engine
};
warehouse.createdCars.push(car);
warehouse.nextIdentifier++;
}
}
this.addEnergyPower = (value = 0) => {
power += value;
}
this.changeCarColor = (car) => {
console.log(car.color, car.id, power);
if (power < 1) {
return null;
} else {
warehouse.createdCars[car.id].color = 'blue';
}
}
}
let myFactory = new CarFactory();
//console.log(myFactory);
for (let c = 0; c < 10; c++) {
//console.log(c);
myFactory.produceCar("red", 4, false);
}
//console.log("GO!", myFactory.warehouse);
for (let i = 1; i < myFactory.warehouse.createdCars.length; i += 2) {
//console.log(i);
let car = myFactory.warehouse.createdCars[i];
console.log("Car:", car);
if (myFactory.changeCarColor(car) == null) {
console.log(typeof energyBoosts);
if (energyBoosts.length > 0) {
myFactory.addEnergyPower(energyBoosts.shift());
i -= 2;
} else {
break;
}
}
}
In the fiddle is a "class" I have written to manage navigation over the data model and a test which shows that multiple instances (starting from second) of this "class" are referencing something wrong.
https://jsfiddle.net/btvmnaxc/
(outputs to console)
Expected output would be
[{"name":"xx"}]
[{"name":"yy"}]
But after setting Elements via setElements, in other methods Elements is empty, strangely only after creating the second instance. I could think that setElements overwrites the reference, but why other methods keep this old reference instead of getting a new one from the var.
Could somebody explain this behavior?
P.S. I probably can think on a solution, as packing vars in a property which is an object.
function Pagination() {
var props = {Elements:[], ...}
}
P.S.S
function Pagination() {
var that = this;
var Elements = [0,1];
var Frame = [];
var FrameNumber = 0;
var EntitiesPerFrame = 25;
var FrameChangedCB = [];
this.subscribeFrameChange = function(cb) {
if (typeof cb === "function") {
FrameChangedCB.push(cb);
} else {
throw new Error("Not a function");
}
}
this.setEntitiesPerFrame = function(entities_per_frame) {
entities_per_frame = parseInt(entities_per_frame);
if (entities_per_frame > 0) {
EntitiesPerFrame = entities_per_frame;
while (!this.canDisplayFrame(FrameNumber) && FrameNumber > 0) {
FrameNumber--;
}
calculateFrame();
}
}
frameChanged = function() {
FrameChangedCB.forEach(function(cb) {
cb();
});
}
this.setElements = function(elements) {
if (Array.isArray(elements)) {
Elements = elements;
calculateFrame();
console.log("qq");
} else {
throw new Error("Can only work with arrays");
}
}
this.getStart = function() {
return FrameNumber * EntitiesPerFrame;
}
this.getEnd = function() {
var end = (FrameNumber + 1) * EntitiesPerFrame;
return end > Elements.length ? Elements.length : end;
}
this.getEntitiesPerFrame = function() {
return EntitiesPerFrame;
}
calculateFrame = function() {
var start = that.getStart();
var end = that.getEnd();
if (that.canDisplayFrame(FrameNumber)) {
Frame = Elements.slice(
start,
end
);
frameChanged();
} else {
throw new Error("Boundaries");
}
}
this.canDisplayFrame = function(nr) {
nr = parseInt(nr);
var can = false;
var start = nr * EntitiesPerFrame
var end = (nr + 1) * EntitiesPerFrame;
if (start <= Elements.length && nr >= 0) {
can = true;
}
return can;
}
this.getFrame = function() {
return Frame;
}
this.next = function() {
return this.goto(FrameNumber + 1);
}
this.prev = function() {
return this.goto(FrameNumber - 1);
}
this.goto = function(frame_nr) {
var changed = false;
if (that.canDisplayFrame(frame_nr)) {
FrameNumber = parseInt(frame_nr);
calculateFrame();
changed = true;
}
return changed;
}
this.getLength = function() {
return Elements.length;
}
}
var b = new Pagination();
var a = new Pagination();
a.setElements([{name: 'xx'}]);
b.setElements([{name: 'yy'}]);
console.log(JSON.stringify(a.getFrame()));
console.log(JSON.stringify(b.getFrame()));
This is happening because you are abusing implicit globals.
Your Pagination function contains two places where a function is assigned to an identifier without using var:
calculateFrame = function() {
var start = that.getStart();
var end = that.getEnd();
if (that.canDisplayFrame(FrameNumber)) {
Frame = Elements.slice(
start,
end
);
frameChanged();
} else {
throw new Error("Boundaries");
}
}
This will assign this function to a global variable named calculateFrame and any call to calculateFrame() will be calling whichever of those was assigned last (and therefore be using whatever scope it has access to).
To fix this, use var:
var calculateFrame = function() {
var start = that.getStart();
var end = that.getEnd();
if (that.canDisplayFrame(FrameNumber)) {
Frame = Elements.slice(
start,
end
);
frameChanged();
} else {
throw new Error("Boundaries");
}
}
Or better yet, use a named function declaration:
function calculateFrame() {
var start = that.getStart();
var end = that.getEnd();
if (that.canDisplayFrame(FrameNumber)) {
Frame = Elements.slice(
start,
end
);
frameChanged();
} else {
throw new Error("Boundaries");
}
}
After fixing the two places where you have this issue, the snippet outputs the expected result.
function Pagination() {
var that = this;
var Elements = [0, 1];
var Frame = [];
var FrameNumber = 0;
var EntitiesPerFrame = 25;
var FrameChangedCB = [];
this.subscribeFrameChange = function(cb) {
if (typeof cb === "function") {
FrameChangedCB.push(cb);
} else {
throw new Error("Not a function");
}
}
this.setEntitiesPerFrame = function(entities_per_frame) {
entities_per_frame = parseInt(entities_per_frame);
if (entities_per_frame > 0) {
EntitiesPerFrame = entities_per_frame;
while (!this.canDisplayFrame(FrameNumber) && FrameNumber > 0) {
FrameNumber--;
}
calculateFrame();
}
}
function frameChanged() {
FrameChangedCB.forEach(function(cb) {
cb();
});
}
this.setElements = function(elements) {
if (Array.isArray(elements)) {
Elements = elements;
calculateFrame();
console.log("qq");
} else {
throw new Error("Can only work with arrays");
}
}
this.getStart = function() {

}

end

}
}
this.canDisplayFrame = function(nr) {
nr = parseInt(nr);
var can = false;
var start = nr * EntitiesPerFrame
var end = (nr + 1) * EntitiesPerFrame;
if (start <= Elements.length && nr >= 0) {

}
return can;
}
this.getFrame = function() {

}
this.next = function() {
return this.goto(FrameNumber + 1);
}

}

I get a syntax error: unexpected identifier at line 22. I've been over and over this code, and I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. It's a code to determine the shortest route from one node to another.
"use strict"
function findpath(G,si,di){
//G is an array of nodes (with id, lat, lon)
var cvi = si;
var P=[si];
var C=[0,P];
var M=[C];
var O=[];
var ctr=0;
var done = false;
var reached = false;
var best = undefined;
while(!done){
ctr++;
if( ctr > 100 ){
alert("Sorry, can't find the destination.");
return P;
}
for (int i=0;i<M.length;++i){
var last = M[i[1]].length;
var v = M[i[1[last]]];
//select a random neighbor...
if( v.N.length === 0 ){
alert("Wat?");
return [];
}
else if( v.N.length === 1 ){
break;
}
else if( v === di ){
break;
}
else {
for (int j=0;j<v.N.length;++j){
var temp = M[i];
O.push(temp[1].push(v.N[j]));
var dist = distance(v.lat,v.lon,v.N[j].lat,v.N[j].lon);
var temp2 = O.length-1;
O[temp2[0]]+=dist;
if (v.N[j]===di){
reached = true;
if (best === undefined){
console.log("ASSIGN");
best = O[temp2];
}
else {
if (O[temp2[0]]<best[0]) {
best = O[temp2];
}
}
}
}
}
}
M = O;
var any = false;
for (int i=0;i<M.length;++i) {
if (M[i[0]]<best[0]) {
any = true;
}
}
if (!any) {
done = true;
}
}
//return the path
return best[1];
}
function distance(x1,y1,x2,y2){
return Math.sqrt(Math.pow((x2-x1),2)+Math.pow((y2-y1),2));
}
This:
for (int i=0;i<M.length;++i){
shouldn't have int. It should be var.
for (var i=0;i<M.length;++i){
You have for (int i=0;i<M.length;++i){.
int is an identifier, but not one that is part of JavaScript.
You probably meant var.
I've been debugging the ReportingServices.js file using Firefox and Firebug. I've found that the reason SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) Report Manager (web front end for Reports) doesn't work in Firefox (v7.0.1) is that it's using javascript .lastChild to find elements. Unfortunately, Firefox also picks up on whitespace as TextNode elements causing the element selection to not work as expected.
This works in IE and hopefully someone knows a solution to this. I edited the javascript to get round one bug but then hit another more complicated one so probably a mine field to try to fix manually. Hopefully there is some update or patch available.
This is running SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard edition on a Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter server.
Apologies if you feel this is not the forum for such a question. In that case, please suggest where else I should ask the question if it's not appropriate. It is kindof a javascript problem but likely with a software update solution.
Updated:
After a few hours of fixing the browser compatibility bugs in the ReportingServices.js file I managed to get it to work on Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari as well as IE. Sorry that my answer below is in 2 parts; I posted the entire code of the updated ReportingServices.js for the solution.
After a few hours hacking around with the original ReportingServices.js file I managed to fix the javascript to work on Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari as well as IE.
Even though it's a bit big I've posted the whole edited ReportingServices.js below for others to use if needed. I've put "chris edit" comments showing the old lines above their edits so you can (if you care) follow what I've changed. I've also summarized these changes at the top of the code.
The SSRS report manager web interface is very useful and it would be a shame not to use it just because Microsoft didn't bother to test it on other browsers than IE. This is why I always prefer jQuery over plain javascript to avoid these kind of cross browser compatibility issues.
I had to post it in 2 parts. Hope this helps others!

ReportingServices.js file for SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services
Updated to fix a bug whereby drop down context menus didn't work
for any other browser than IE.
1) I added functions to find firstChild and lastChild while skipping any
whitespace TextNode elements.
2) I updated the Clicked function to get at the table element value in a way
that works for firefox.
3) I updated the SplitContextMenuConfigString function to access the table
cells by first looping through each row and then the cells.
Drop downs now work on Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari as well as IE.

First, Firebug is your friend, get used to it. Second, if you paste each function and some supporting lines, one by one, you will eventually get to the following.
var DebugMode = (getQueryVariable("debug")=="1")
function getQueryVariable(variable)
You can't execute getQueryVariable before it is defined, you can create a handle to a future reference though, there is a difference.
There are several other potential issues in your code, but putting the var DebugMode line after the close of the getQueryVariable method should work fine.
It would help if you gave more context. For example, is
Failed to load source for:
http://localhost/js/m.js
the literal text of an error message? Where and when do you see it?
Also, does that code represent the contents of http://localhost/js/m.js? It seems that way, but it's hard to tell.
In any case, the JavaScript that you've shown has quite a few statements that are missing their semicolons. There may be other syntax errors as well. If you can't find them on your own, you might find tools such as jslint to be helpful.
make sure the type attribute in tag is "text/javascript" not "script/javascript".
I know it is more than a year since this question was asked, but I faced this today. I had a
<script type="text/javascript" src="/test/test-script.js"/>
and I was getting the 'Failed to load source for: http://localhost/test/test-script.js' error in Firebug. Even chrome was no loading this script. Then I modified the above line as
<script type="text/javascript" src="/test/test-script.js"></script>
and it started working both in Firefox and chrome. Documenting this here hoping that this will help someone. Btw, I dont know why the later works where as the previous one didn't.
