So I created a property in the root element of my qml and filled it with JavaScript as a 2d array. I did it this way:

I want to display the values of this 2d array in a table and update them when they're changed, in addition to some action buttons that affect the values of the array at it's own row.
I'm just a noob at QML and programming in general, so if this is a very basic question please tell me where can I learn more, since I've found few resources online to learn QML.
Plain arrays are not the ideal solution if you intend to visualize the data. QML views can use arrays as models, but this is inefficient if you want to reflect internal changes. You either have to force update of the entire view, recreating all view delegates instead of just updating the changed value, or you will have to implement your own mechanism to update changes.
The easiest thing to use would be a ListModel element, and rather than implementing properties as an array (bad idea anyway) you can implement them as list element properties:

The model can be populated declarative as above, or imperatively:
carList.append({"currentStation": -1, "score": 100, ...})
You also have the usual index access, property access and so on, just scroll through the doc to get an idea of the interface.
The benefit of this is you will get efficient automatic updates in the view. So you just set up a view and implement a delegate that will serve to visualize and manipulate the data.

I want to prevent pusing Options to my array if the attribute model has duplicate data. It only has to push once for all similar model values.
How can i do it?

Its difficult to tell what you are trying to achieve but it looks like a map may not be the right tool for the job.
A map returns the same sized length array as that of the original array that you are calling map on.
If my assumptions are correct, your buyerActivityResult.simulcastMyAccount.data array has duplicate values, and you want to remove these duplicates based on the model property? One way to achieve this would be to use the lodash library for this, using the uniq function:

The Array.prototype.map() method is supposed to be used for manipulating the data contained into the array performing the operation. To manipulate data from other variables I recommend to use a for-loop block.
If item.model is an object, the function Array.prototype.indexOf() always returns -1 because it compares the memory address of the objects and does not do a deep comparison of all properties values.
The usual solution to remove duplicate data from an array is converting the Array into a Set then back to an Array. Unfortunately, this works only on primary type values (string, number, boolean, etc...) and not on objects.
Starting here, I will review your source code and do some changes and explain why I would apply those changes. First of all, assuming the make_children array does not receive new attribution later in your code, I would turn it into a constant. Because of the initialization, I think the declaration is overtyped.

Then I think you try to do too much things at the same time. It makes reading of the source code difficult for your colleagues, for you too (maybe not today but what about in few weeks...) and it make testing, debugging and improvements nearly impossible. Let's break it down in at least 2 steps. First one is transforming the data. For example remove duplicate. And the second one create the Option element base on the result of the previous operation.

I will be adding a label, and associated array data:

I want to be able to append/modify this array. If 'label' already defined...then cycle through the sub data for that element...and update. If 'label' doesnt exist..then append a new data set to the 'saved_designs' array element.

It can be a bit confusing. JavaScript objects look a lot like a map or a dictionary from other languages. You can iterate over them and access their properties with object['property_name'].
Thus the difference between a property and a string index doesn't really exist. That looks like php you are creating. It's called an array there, but the fact that you are identifying values by a string means it is going to be serialized into an object in javascript.
var thing = {"saved_designs":{"label":{"class":"someclass","style":[],"hover":[]}}}
thing.saved_designs.label is the same thing as thing["saved_designs"]["label"].
In javascript an array is a list that can only be accessed by integer indices. Arrays don't have explicit keys and can be defined:
var stuff = ['label', 24, anObject]
So you see the error you are getting about 'push not defined' is because you aren't working on an array as far as javascript is concerned.
currentDesigns["saved_designs"] == currentDesigns.saved_designs
When you have an object, and you want a new key/value pair (i.e. property) you don't need a special function to add. Just define the key and the value:
**currentDesigns.saved_designs['key'] = newDesign;**
If you have a different label for every design (which is what it looks like) key is that label (a string).
Also when you were defining the new design this is what javascript interprets:

newDesign is an array. It has n number of elements accessed by integers indices.

Since newDesign is a an array saveLabel should be an numerical index. The value for that index is another array.

Here explicitly you show that you are trying to use an array as objects. Arrays do not support ['string_key']
This might very well 'work' but only because in javascript arrays are objects and there is no rule that says you can't add properties to objects at will. However all these [] are not helping you at all.

On the client (in JS) I first create products with properties and the possible values each property may have.
After that I create variations. Each of them can have a set of several values. But it only can "use" the values, which do already exist for properties.
In the next step, I move that product-object over to rest api.
While in JS the values used in a variation points to the original object in the product property, after encoding to JSON and backwarts to stdClass in PHP behind the restful service, this link gets lost.
Of course I could give them IDs on my own and call them temp_id or so. Hacky.
How would pros do it?

I simply deserialize the incomming JSON $object = json_decode($json); and use RedBeans and Piped to manage that end. What it does is mainly just moving through the properties and create objects with ..._id == null (then they get a unique ID).
Let's say I would do it manually:
I'd walk through the properties and store each value-object into the MySQL-db. Say

Now I walk through the variations. One of these uses the Green-Value. But since this value will also be

how could I identify them? The string, of course, is too weak - no one could consider that. As mentioned above, I could give them temporary IDs. But surely there is a better way.
i have one array of ids and one JavaScript objects array. I need to filter/search the JavaScript objects array with the values in the array in Node JS.
For example

The amount of data which will be compared is about 30-40k rows.
This will do the trick, using Array.prototype.filter:

Please note that this filter function is not available on IE 8 or lower, but the MDN has a polyfill available.
As long as you're starting with an unsorted Array of all possible Objects, there's no way around iterating through it. #Cerbrus' answer is one good way of doing this, with Array.prototype.filter, but you could also use loops.
But do you really need to start with an unsorted Array of all possible Objects?
For example, is it possible to filter these objects out before they ever get into the Array? Maybe you could apply your test when you're first building the Array, so that objects which fail the test never even become part of it. That would be more resource-friendly, and if it makes sense for your particular app, then it might even be simpler.

Alternatively, could you use a data structure that keeps track of whether an object passes the test? The simplest way to do this, if you absolutely must use an Array, would be to also keep an index to it. When you add your objects to the Array, you apply the test: if an object passes, then its position in the Array gets put into the index. Then, when you need to get objects out of the Array, you can consult the index: that way, you don't waste time going through the Array when you don't need to touch most of the objects in the first place. If you have several different tests, then you could keep several different indexes, one for each test. This takes a little more memory, but it can save a lot of time.

Could you sort the Array so that the test can short-circuit? Imagine a setup where you've got your array set up so that everything which passes the test comes first. That way, as soon as you hit your first item that fails, you know that all of the remaining items will fail. Then you can stop your loop right away, since you know there aren't any more "good" items.

The bottom line is that this isn't so much a language question as an algorithms question. It doesn't sound like your current data structure -an unsorted Array of all possible items- is well-suited for your particular problem. Depending on what else the application needs to do, it might make more sense to use another data structure entirely, or to augment the existing structure with indexes. Either way, if it's planned carefully, will save you some time.

Once orders are pushed into the array, properties like orders[0].customer_name work, but methods like orders[0].value() don't.
It seems reasonable that Firebase/Angularfire would only be syncing JSON, but is there an approach that would allow me to keep order-related logic included with the order object, i.e without having to write $scope.getOrderValue(orders[0])?
There isn't a great way to do exactly what you want, since according to the Firebase FAQ:
At a low-level, we support basically the same data types as JSON: Strings, Numbers, Booleans, and Objects (which in turn contain Strings, Numbers, Booleans, and more Objects).
Which means you can store data but not functions. It seems like a clean way to accomplish the same thing would be to store the latest order value as a property of your order object, and have a method as part of your orderService that updates it whenever menu items are added or removed. Alternatively, do what you suggested and have a getOrderValue somewhere, but it probably still makes sense to put that in a service.

I wanted to add a method to my firebase object.
After looking in the latest angularfire docs I found that $extend can do just that
I didn't test it yet, but I think this is the way to go about it.
